POSITION SUMMARY
This full time position exists to support the mission of Prairie “to establish God’s kingdom by equipping and mentoring individuals through biblically integrated education for life and careers that will meet the greatest needs of the world”. This specific role is to provide excellent and relevant teaching in New Testament studies, along with a preference for a secondary teaching competence in Christian spiritual formation (though persons equipped in other disciplines are welcome to make application). The position will most likely include leadership and administrative responsibilities as a program director.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach a full-time faculty load of twenty-four credit hours each academic year, with the primary instructional area in New Testament (Program Director responsibilities are given the equivalent of three credit hours in the faculty load and a seat on the Academic Council).
• Participate in faculty meetings and responsibilities.
• Participate in designated areas of co-curricular life as mutually agreed on with the Academic Dean.
• Serve as a program coordinator for an academic program; providing primary leadership in the development of philosophy, rationale, and curriculum.
• Mentor and disciple students, particularly in the program you coordinate.
• Advise students in program and assist them in finding career futures.
• Oversight and guidance of program students in internships/practicums.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Excellent teaching skills in a post-secondary classroom setting.
• Enthusiastic commitment to Prairie’s commitment and approach to teaching the whole Bible.
• Passionate about preparing college students enrolled in a broad span of biblical, ministry and vocational programs for ministry and work.
• Committed to the spiritual formation and Christian practice of students.
• Actively committed to scholarly work and growth.
• Understanding of academic rigor appropriate to post-secondary education.
• Broad and deep knowledge of the academic discipline of New Testament.
• Preference given to applicants with competency in the secondary area of Christian spiritual formation, although those with competency in other disciplines are welcome to apply.
• Experience in Christian post-secondary education.
• Ability and skill to relate well to college-age students.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Mission: Knowledge of and commitment to Prairie’s mission, vision, core values, statement of faith, and Community Covenant.
• Church: Understanding of and commitment to the local church.
• Gifting/Calling: Primary vocation is teaching. Evident love for teaching the New Testament. Senses a calling to fulfill this vocation at Prairie.
• Education: A minimum level of a graduate degree in New Testament. (PhD preferred)
• Experience: Two or more years of successful post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
• Ministry: Significant experience in ministry leadership.
• English Language: Excellent knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including composition and grammar.
• Team attitude: Must have the ability to work in and contribute to a team.
