Emerging Scholarship on the Old Testament

In by Edwin Smith

This group showcases cutting-edge scholarship from emerging Old Testament scholars sponsored by Fellows of the Institute for Biblical Research. All are welcome to attend. Summaries of the papers will be read at the session, leaving opportunity for discussion.

PhD Supervisors, Readers, and Examiners: Please consider nominating your best Ph.D. student or recent Ph.D. graduate (within 5 years of completion) for a presentation at our Emerging Scholars sessions on the Friday afternoon before the plenary IBR lecture. Even if you were not directly involved but know of a recent and outstanding PhD, you may nominate that person. If accepted, we ask that you be present at the Friday afternoon presentation of your nominee’s paper.

PhD students and recent graduates: Please consider contacting your supervisor about nominating you. It’s a great opportunity to present your work before a sympathetic-yet-critical audience and engage in serious dialogue with other scholars where your voice is heard. All are welcome, regardless of gender or ethnicity.

To maximize opportunity, we ask that former presenters not apply for second time and that you not apply to both OT/NT groups in the same year.
